MAJOR WORK | Homo Murinae

This film project was completed in 2018 for my HSC visual arts major work. It was created, shot, produced, edited and designed by me.

‘Homo Murinae’ explores the idea that with accelerating developments in the medical industry, especially regarding mental health, a patient is often treated to feel like a lab rat. A common theme in my own treatment was the importance placed on knowledge gained rather than providing answers. Patients constantly enduring exposing their psyche and reliving trauma to people who would draw out treatments, ultimately withholding any form of solace, repeatedly leaving them to feel like test subjects. The audience will observe a strong connection between the inferiority of the patient or ‘lab rat’ and the oppression placed on them by the mental health care system.
